Shipping & Freight Policy

At OS Transmissions, we specialize in professionally rebuilt and ship-ready transmissions and drivetrain components. Due to the nature, weight, and value of these products, our shipping and freight process follows strict logistics, inspection, and liability guidelines.

Please review this policy carefully before placing an order.

🚚 Shipping Methods by Product Type

Ship-Ready Transmissions

Ship-Ready transmissions are shipped via LTL Freight on a reinforced crate or pallet.

These shipments:

  • Weigh approximately 175–250 lbs once crated
  • Are shipped dry (no fluids)
  • Require forklift or liftgate for delivery
  • Include freight insurance
  • Require signature upon delivery

Torque Converters (New & Remanufactured)

Torque converters may ship in two ways:

  • When purchased alone:
    Shipped via standard parcel carriers (UPS / FedEx)
  • When purchased with a Ship-Ready transmission:
    Shipped inside the same freight crate at no additional shipping charge

Service Products

Service-only products do not require shipping.

Fluid-Free Shipping Policy

All Ship-Ready transmissions and torque converters are shipped without fluid.

This:

✔ Prevents hazardous material spills

✔ Reduces shipping risk

✔ Requires professional installation and fluid filling upon receipt

Failure to properly fill the transmission before startup will void warranty.

🏠 Commercial vs Residential Delivery

Freight shipments are priced and handled differently depending on delivery location:

Commercial Delivery

Standard freight delivery to a business with:

  • Dock access or forklift available
  • Normal freight pricing

Residential Delivery

Deliveries to residential addresses may incur:

  • Residential delivery surcharge
  • Liftgate fees if required

OS Transmissions does not offer inside delivery.

Customers are responsible for selecting the correct delivery type at checkout.

🧰 Liftgate & Special Delivery Services

If your delivery location does not have a forklift or dock, a liftgate is required.

Typical additional fees:

  • Liftgate service: $75–$125
  • Residential surcharge: $75–$150

These charges may be applied at checkout or invoiced separately if not disclosed correctly at the time of order.

📍 Freight Pricing Structure

Freight is not flat-rated nationwide due to size, weight, and regional variability.

📦 Freight Inspection & Damage Policy

All customers MUST inspect freight shipments upon delivery.

Visible Damage

If visible damage exists:

  • It must be noted on the delivery receipt
  • Take photos immediately
  • Contact OS Transmissions before signing

Concealed Damage

If damage is discovered after delivery:

  • Must be reported within 24 hours
  • Include photos and documentation
  • Keep all original materials until claim resolution

Claims submitted after 24 hours may not be accepted by freight carriers.

⚠️ Failure to document damage at delivery may result in denied claims. 

Shipping Liability Disclaimer

Once a shipment is accepted and signed for, OS Transmissions is not responsible for:

  • Delays caused by the freight carrier
  • Storage fees due to missed delivery
  • Failed delivery attempts due to incorrect address
  • Carrier rescheduling

Freight carrier policies govern all transit-related issues.

🔁 Return Shipping Responsibility

Due to the nature of transmission products, returns are handled strictly:

All returns must be approved in writing prior to shipment.

🛡️ Warranty & Shipping Relationship

Shipping-related damage and installation-related failures are not interchangeable.

Warranty does NOT cover:

  • Damage caused during transport that is not properly documented
  • Improper handling or storage after delivery
  • Installation errors

Customers are responsible for proper inspection and professional installation.

🔧 Torque Converter Warranty Disclaimer

OS Transmissions offers both:

  • Brand New Torque Converters
  • Remanufactured Torque Converters

Warranty coverage applies differently:

  • Brand New Torque Converters may qualify for full warranty when installed professionally
  • Remanufactured Torque Converters may not carry full warranty coverage due to supplier limitations
  • OS Transmissions strongly recommends using a Brand New Torque Converter whenever available.

Final warranty terms are disclosed on each product page.

🚫 Fluids & Hazmat

All transmissions and torque converters are shipped dry.

  • No fluids are included
  • Products are not classified as hazardous materials
  • Torque converters are not pre-filled to avoid hazmat and leakage risks

Professional installation is required.

📄 Legal & Liability Statement

By placing an order with OS Transmissions, the customer agrees that:

  • Freight shipments are subject to carrier terms
  • Inspection at delivery is mandatory
  • Improper installation voids warranty
  • OS Transmissions is not responsible for freight claims not properly documented
  • OS Transmissions does not provide inside delivery or unloading labor
