Bench Work Warranty & Installation Policy

At OS Transmissions, we stand behind the quality of our bench work transmission rebuilds. Bench Work refers to transmissions that are removed, delivered, and reinstalled by a third-party shop or individual.

Because OS Transmissions does not perform removal or installation in bench work services, we cannot assume liability for installation procedures, vehicle condition, or any resulting external system failures.

This policy applies strictly to transmission units rebuilt by OS Transmissions under bench work service.

📌 Warranty Coverage – Bench Work Only

Our limited bench work warranty covers:

  • Internal components of the rebuilt transmission
  • Workmanship related to disassembly, inspection, and rebuild procedures
  • Internal failure directly related to the rebuild process

Warranty Does NOT Cover:

  • Improper installation
  • Torque converter installation errors
  • External electrical issues or wiring faults
  • Cooling system contamination or restricted cooler flow
  • Incorrect fluid type or fluid level
  • Labor costs for removal or reinstallation
  • Damage caused by operator abuse or severe-duty operation
  • Failure caused by continued operation after warning symptoms

⚠️ Warranty Void Conditions

Warranty coverage may be void if any of the following occur:

  • Torque converter is not properly seated or aligned during installation
  • Transmission is started dry or without proper fluid fill procedure
  • Incorrect transmission fluid is used or fluid level is incorrect
  • Cooler lines are not flushed, resulting in contamination
  • Electrical connectors or harnesses are disconnected or improperly installed
  • Vehicle is operated with known transmission-related symptoms
  • Unauthorized teardown or disassembly is performed without OS approval/awareness

📄 Warranty Claim Requirements

To process a bench work warranty claim, OS Transmissions may require:

  • Installation invoice or documentation
  • Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) prior to teardown
  • Proof of proper torque converter installation
  • Fluid type and fluid level verification
  • Evidence of cooler line flushing
  • Photos or video documentation of failure condition

Failure to provide requested documentation may delay or deny warranty consideration.

🔧 Reservice & Evaluation Policy

If a transmission is returned due to damage caused by improper installation, external factors, or conditions outside OS Transmissions’ control:

  • A teardown and evaluation fee may apply
  • Additional labor and parts will be billed separately if repair is approved
  • OS Transmissions reserves the right to determine failure origin after inspection
  • Warranty coverage will not apply to external or installation-related damage

💵 Paid Repair Option

If warranty coverage is denied due to installation error, external failure, contamination, or operator abuse, OS Transmissions may offer a paid repair or rebuild option when feasible.

Paid repairs may include:

  • Reuse of salvageable internal components where possible
  • Replacement of damaged hard parts as needed
  • Additional labor for teardown, cleaning, and reassembly
  • Replacement of contaminated or externally damaged components

All paid repair options are offered at the discretion of OS Transmissions based on inspection findings and transmission condition.

📦 Core & Component Handling

During warranty evaluation, OS Transmissions may retain, inspect, or document components as part of failure analysis. This may include internal parts, filters, valve bodies, or torque converters when applicable.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • This warranty applies only to bench work transmissions rebuilt by OS Transmissions
  • OS Transmissions is not responsible for installation-related labor or vehicle-side issues
  • Warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser
  • Final failure determination is made exclusively by OS Transmissions after inspection
